All of our candles have a minimum of 16 hours burn time. Often they can last much longer! Taking care of your candle makes the difference between an okay experience and an excellent experience, and it lasting 16 hours or lasting 26 hours!
The following rules will help you to get the most out of your candle.
Keep your candles out of the way of drafty areas.
Trim the wick! This is very important. You should trim the wick before every burn to approximately 5mm. You can use wick trimmers, nail clippers, nail scissors, embroidery scissors... anything is better than nothing. You can pick up wick trimmers in the Accessories section of our shop in a variety of colours.
Keep your candle free of any debris. Try to ensure it doesn't get dusty by popping the lid on once the wax has cooled and hardened. Avoid getting any liquid in the candle. Don't add anything extra for decorative or fragrance purposes such as dried botanicals/petals or glitter. This is a fire hazard and can clog the wick and prevent it from burning well.
Do not burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours. Burning for longer can result in the candle becoming too hot and can cause the fragrance to die off!
The first time you light your candle, let it burn for at least 3 hours. If you do not do this, then it can result in future burns 'tunnelling' and not burning all the wax, causing you to miss out. This is when you end up with a little hole through the middle around the wick, with none of the wax melting around the outsides.
Burn your candle on an even surface to prevent the wax going wonky, and make sure it can withstand heat- no plastic bathtubs or sofa arms.
Obviously, don't burn your candle next to anything that could catch fire! That would absolutely ruin the calming experience. Also avoid burning candles within 10cm of eachother and keep out of reach of kids and furry friends!
When you wish to put your candle out, avoid blowing it! We're all guilty of this, myself included. However, using a candle snuffer will help to preserve your candle much better. Never put your candle out by putting the lid on it as this can be a fire hazard, but also leads to a nasty soot build up in the candle. You can purchase a variety of wick snuffers in the Accessories section of our shop.
Lastly, the best tip to getting the most out of your candle is to relax. Put on some nice slippers, a relaxing tune, and pour your favourite drink. Our aim is to provide candles that make you feel absolutely relaxed, nostalgic, and ultimately, to bring you that feeling of coming home after a long day. Grab that blanket and light that candle; you deserve it.
